Russell and Valley Return to Nailers

Wheeling Nailers News Release


WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League announce that forward Bobby Russell and goalie Mike Valley have been assigned to Wheeling by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Russell has appeared in 21 games for the Nailers this season and has 20 points on 15 goals and five assists. He also playing at a +8 in the +/- category. Russell has been with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton since being called up on February 9. He has played 26 games for the Penguins in the AHL this season. In those games Russell has seven points on four goals and three assists. He is also a +3 with the Penguins.

Valley has been with the Penguins since he was called up on January 5. With the Nailers he has appeared in 33 games and had a 13-15-3 record. He also has two shutouts with the Nailers this season. Valley's goals against average with Wheeling is 3.35 and his save percentage is .907. Valley has appeared in ten games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season. His record with the Penguins is 2-6-2 with one shutout. Valley has posted a 3.01 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.

Both players are expected to be in uniform with the Nailers this weekend as the team plays three games in three nights. The Nailers are home against the Dayton Bombers Friday night at 7:30p.m. On Saturday night the Nailers are in Johnstown at 7:30p.m. and in Toledo on Sunday at 3:00p.m.

On Wednesday, March 5 the Nailers will host an Alumni Game between the Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni Team and the Wheeling Nailers/Thunderbirds Alumni Team. The Nailers will also have the Stanley Cup on display at the Wheeling Civic Center throughout the night. All general admission tickets are $7 and all Nailers season ticket holders ticket price is $5.
