York Revolution News Release

In many ways it was the ugliest game of the season for the York Revolution, who fell 12-2 to the Bridgeport Bluefish on Wednesday evening in front of 4,354 fans at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. The Revs fall to 0-2 in the second half, and will look to avoid a sweep on Thursday afternoon before returning home.

Held to just five hits, the Revs committed a season-high-tying four errors and allowed a season-high 19 hits to the Bluefish, suffering their most lopsided defeat of the year.

Bridgeport starter Kelvin Villa (3-2) retired the first 12 batters of the game, and allowed only a solo home run to left by Andy Marte leading off the fifth, his lone run given up on just three hits in seven innings of work.

Meanwhile, the Bluefish offense erupted, led by James Simmons who went 5-for-5 with a home run, and Austin Krum who was 4-for-4 with a walk. Prentice Redman also enjoyed a 3-for-5 night.

The Bluefish took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third. Iggy Suarez drove in the first run on a bloop single to right. Redman lined a bases loaded single to left later in the inning, plating one more with a third run scoring when left fielder Cody Johnson fumbled the ball, committing an error.

Three more scored in the fifth, as Luis Lopez picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice, Yusuf Carter did the same on a sac fly to left, and Simmons likewise on a double to right-center.

Bridgeport put it out of reach with five runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth. After Lopez scored on a passed ball to plate the first run in the seventh, Simmons slapped an RBI single up the middle, Krum drew a bases loaded walk, and two more runs scored when second baseman Andres Perez committed an error on a ground ball off the bat of Alexis Gomez. Simmons' homer to right in the eighth closed out the scoring for the Bluefish.

The Revs received one final run in the top of the eighth when Ruddy Yan led off with a double to right-center and scored on a two-out double down the first base line by Wilson Batista.

York starter Nick Green (3-2) suffered his second straight loss, charged with six runs (three earned) on 11 hits in 4.2 innings.

As part of the quiet night for the York offense, Johnson was held hitless in four at-bats, snapping a 24-game on-base streak which was the league's longest active streak. It also ended a seven-game hitting streak.

Bridgeport won its third straight game, the first three-game winning streak for the Bluefish since winning five straight, April 21-26.

York 's Chris Cody (8-4, 3.27) will look to snap a two-game skid for the Revs on Thursday, facing Josh Butler (3-5, 4.91) with first pitch for the Independence Day game set for 2:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, YorkRevolution.com, and on the Shoutcast phone app (YorkRevs) beginning at 1:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
