
Revs select four in 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution selected four players in today's Supplemental Draft, which consisted of four rounds of 19 selections each. The Revs picked fourth in each round:
-D Jossimar Sanchez, Connecticut (Paterson, N.J.; first round, fourth pick overall)
-Chris Thomas, Elon (Snellville, Ga.; second round, 23rd pick overall)
-Alex De John, Old Dominion (Marlboro, N.J.; third round, 42nd pick overall)
-M Gabe Latigue, Elon (Apex, N.C.; fourth round, 61st pick overall)
Sanchez, 21, made 74 appearances (73 starts) in four years at Connecticut, scoring two goals and adding one assist. A two-year captain, he transitioned from center midfielder to center back as a senior. During his career, Sanchez helped lead the Huskies to quarterfinal appearances in the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons (2011, 2012) and the BIG EAST regular-season championship twice (2009, 2012). Sanchez earned 2012 first-team All-BIG EAST honors after being selected to the all-conference third team as a sophomore (2010) and junior (2011). He also earned a place on the BIG EAST all-rookie team in 2009.
Thomas, 22, scored 53 goals and added 10 assists in 81 games in his four seasons at Elon University. As a senior, the forward led the nation in goals (23) and points (51) in 22 games played and was named a Herman Trophy Semifinalist. The Snellville, Ga., native was a 2012 NSCAA third team All-American, a two-time Southern Conference player of the year (2010, 2012) and a 2012 first-team All-South Region performer. Elon's all-time leader in goals (53) and points (116), Thomas led the team in goals scored in each of his four years with the Phoenix.
De John, 21, played 66 games (61 starts) in his four-year career as a defender at Old Dominion, scoring two goals and adding one assist. In 2012, the New Jersey native earned second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors.
Latigue, 22, scored 15 goals and added 17 assists in 82 games played in four seasons at Elon University with teammate Chris Thomas. In 2012, the Apex, N.C., native earned second-team All-South Region and second-team All-Southern Conference honors and finished third on the team in goals (5) and second in assists (6). He also earned 2012 Southern Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.
