
Real Salt Lake Selects Two Players in 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft

SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013) - Real Salt Lake selected two players in Tuesday's 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft, picking University of Louisville DF Brock Granger in the third round (50th overall) and University of Connecticut DF Max Wasserman in the fourth round (69th overall).
Both Granger and Wasserman are expected to join Real Salt Lake's preseason camp in Casa Grande, Ariz. this week. RSL began preseason training in Casa Grande on Monday.
Granger transferred to Louisville after spending his freshman year at UNLV. The Honolulu native was a stalwart for the Cardinals back line, making 64 appearances and 58 starts in three years at the U of L. A right back, Granger scored one goal and tallied seven assists in 82 appearances - 66 of which were starts - during his four-year college career.
Wasserman played all four years of his college career at the University of Connecticut. He started his career as a midfielder, but moved to right back before the start of his junior season in 2011. The Farmington, Conn. native finished his college career with six goals and 12 assists in 71 appearances and 38 starts. Wasserman and RSL DF Kwame Watson-Siriboe played together at UConn during Wasserman's redshirt season in 2008 and in 2009.
Real Salt Lake will continue training in Casa Grande, Ariz. until next Monday, Jan. 28. The Claret-and-Cobalt will take on the Danish U-20 national team in Casa Grande on Monday before flying back to Salt Lake City later that day. The team will then have two days off before heading to Irvine, Calif. for its second leg of preseason from Jan. 31-Feb. 8. RSL will finish its preseason slate from Feb. 11-24 at the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup in Tucson, Ariz.
