LA Galaxy select midfielder Andy Riemer in first round of the MLS Supplemental Draft

INDIANAPOLIS (Tuesday, January 22, 2013) - The LA Galaxy added midfielder Andy Riemer to the club's roster this afternoon in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft. The Galaxy selected Riemer, who played collegiately at Georgetown, in the first round (6th overall) of the Supplemental Draft before passing with their third and fourth round selections. A native of McLean, Va., Riemer is scheduled to arrive in Southern California later this week to begin training with the club.

Riemer, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Monday, started all 25 games he appeared in for the Hoyas in 2012, finishing third on the team in scoring with a career-high nine goals while also adding two assists as Georgetown reached the College Cup Final for the first time ever. He appeared in 82 games during his four years at Georgetown, making 62 starts, while scoring 21 goals while adding eight assists.
