
Red Bulls Select Six Players in MLS Supplemental Draft

HARRISON, NJ (Jan. 22, 2013) - The New York Red Bulls selected midfielder Ryan Clark from Monmouth University (1st overall, 1st round), midfielder Michael Bustamante from Boston University (13th round, 1st round), midfielder Ben Fisk (32nd overall, 2nd round) from the University of Washington, midfielder Marc Cintron (34th overall, 2nd round) from Providence College, forward Stephane Diop from the University of Connecticut (51st overall, 3rd round) and defender Andrew Ribeiro from Creighton University (70th overall, 4th round) in today's 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft.
Hailing from Freehold, NJ, Clark was a four-time All-Northeast Conference selection at Monmouth, amassing 80 appearances, 12 goals and 25 assists during his college career. Clark was a two-time NSCAA All-North Atlantic Region First Team pick (2009, 2011) and earned Second Team honors in 2012 after making 20 starts and scoring six goals and five assists. The 22-year-old previously attended Freehold Township High School.
Bustamante was a four-time America East All-Conference First Team and NSCAA All-Northeast Region selection. Despite missing the 2011 season due to a leg injury, the 2008 America East Midfielder and Rookie of the Year recorded a total of 69 games played, earning nine goals and 27 assists over his four-year college career at Boston University.
Fisk, a Federal Way, WA native, earned All-Far West Region Third Team and All Pac-12 honors in his senior year at Washington, tallying 20 appearances, three goals and three assists. The 2011 All-Pac 12 honorable mention spent his first two college years at Cal Poly.
With their fourth pick, the Red Bulls selected Piscataway, NJ native Cintron. Cintron, a 2011 NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team and All-Big EAST pick, played 69 games in four years and notched eight goals and 20 assists. The 22-year-old has also played for the Puerto Rican National Team and scored a goal against Spain during an international friendly on Aug. 15, 2012. He previously attended St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, NJ.
Named to the All-Big EAST Third Team his senior year, Diop started in 17 of 18 games in that campaign, scoring two goals and three assists. A previous NSCAA All-Northeast Second Team, Big EAST All-Tournament Team and All-Big EAST Second Team pick, Diop, who is from Dakar, Senegal, played four seasons at UConn, featuring in 82 total games and scoring 16 goals.
Ribiero ended his four-year career at Creighton with 24 starts, three goals and one assist in his senior season, earning NSCAA Division I All-America First Team honors. He was also named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was a member of the All-MVC First Team. The 6-0, 180-pound defender recorded a total of 70 appearances for his university and notched a total of 10 goals and three assists.
