Ontario Reign News Release
LAS VEGAS, NV - The Ontario Reign (45-18-3-4), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, couldn't get past the Las Vegas Wranglers (36-30-2-3) on Tuesday night before a crowd of 3,271 at Orleans Arena in a 2-1 loss.
The Wranglers drew first blood with a late goal in the first period. Andrew Sarauer sent a one-timer past JF Berube with assists from Sean Wiles and Marc Cantin for the first goal of the night.
On the power play, C.J. Stretch scored for the Reign in his first game back from an AHL call-up with the Oklahoma City Barons. Stretch fired the puck on the Wranglers net from the top of right circle and it went in off the cross bar to tie the game. David Walker and Cameron Burt also earned points on the play with the two assists.
Before the end of the second period, Judd Blackwater put the Wranglers ahead again at 16:29 for what would be the game-winning goal. Blackwater was set up by Chris Francis and Charlie Cook.
Berube took the loss in his first Reign game since his return from Manchester with 28 saves on 30 shots; Mitch O'Keefe earned the win stopping 29 of 30 shots.
