Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (24-37-1-7) return home to take on the Idaho Steelheads (43-19-1-6), tonight, at the Cow Palace. This is the seventh of eight meetings between the two clubs this season, with the Bulls 3-3 against Idaho. The last time these teams faced off, San Francisco came away with a 4-3 shootout victory. Tristan King (1g, 1a) and Dean Ouellet (2a) each had two points and a shootout goal in the effort, with King scoring the game winner. Tonight marks the beginning of the final home series of the regular season for the Bulls.
Last Sunday, San Francisco lost to the Bakersfield Condors 2-1. All three goals came in the second period within a seven minute span. The Condors jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Nick Czinder scored on assists from Brett Findlay and Tommy Grant. The Bulls had their chances but weren't able to find an equalizer. San Francisco held the edge in shots, 39-34.
The Bulls once again got much of their production from recent acquisitions to the roster. Czinder stayed hot, scoring his second goal in as many games. He now has a three-game point streak, one in each game since he joined the team. Findlay's assist was his first point with the club. Grant, back in the lineup after serving his two-game suspension, also registered an assist, and now has five points (1g, 4a) in four games. Netminder Taylor Nelson also had a strong game, finishing with 32 saves.
On Monday, it was announced that the Bulls would be getting back forward Kris Belan. He had been on loan with the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL. In 55 games with San Francisco earlier this season he had compiled eight goals and 12 assists, as well as 130 penalty minutes. It was also announced Grant had been reassigned back to the Worcester Sharks.
The Idaho Steelheads are locked in the third seed in the Western Conference, while the Bulls are locked in as the eighth seed, and will be playing the Western Conference champion Alaska Aces in the first round of the playoffs. The series begins April 5 and 6 in Alaska. The series comes back to the Cow Palace on April 11, 12, and if necessary, 13.
Tonight is Singles Night at the Cow Palace. During the first intermission, the Bulls will host a Dating Game. One bachelorette will win a date with one of three bachelors. Plus, MTV will be hosting a Casting Call for their upcoming season of Friendzone.
This Friday, March 29 at 7:15, the Bulls wrap up this two-game series with the Idaho Steelheads, their final home game of the regular season. San Francisco will be celebrating Fan Appreciation Night. There will be merchandise sales, giveaways, and season holder perks like announcing the starting lineup. In addition, the first 5,000 fans will receive a commemorative poster.
