The Solar Bears and Everblades come together for the second straight game, as Orlando closes out the home portion of their 2012-13 schedule. Despite F Michael Neal's goal to open the game less than five minutes in, the Everblades took control in the contest when they went up by a 4-1 score early in the third period. Neal tallied twice more for the Solar Bears in the final frame to earn his first hat trick of the season, but Florida F Corey Trivino also scored three times to lead Florida to the victory. Orlando and the Everblades meet at the Amway Center for the final time this season tonight, before the series moves to the Germain Arena in Estero, FL, for the final two games of the season for each team. Orlando is 4-2-0-0 against the Everblades at the Amway Center this season and 7-5-1-0 against Florida overall.
Solar Bears Notes:
Forward C.J. Severyn has been returned from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) and is expected to play in tonight's game... Orlando's five shorthanded goals against are the third fewest in the ECHL... F Michael Neal became the third Solar Bear to score a hat trick this season, joining LW Nick Petersen and RW Dan Gendur as players who have scored three goals in a single game. All three hat tricks for Orlando this season have come on home ice... Last night's game marked the sixth time this season that F Michael Neal has recorded multiple points in a single game... The Solar Bears play their final home game of the 2012-13 season tonight. They have compiled a record of 20-10-1-4 at the Amway Center this season... D Ryan Blair was placed on the 21-day IR on last week... G Mike Brodeur, D Josh Caron, F Dan Dries, D Jesse Dudas, D Sean Lorenz, and C Mathew Sisca remain on the 21-day IR... F Chris Lawrence has not played since March 2 and is not expected to play today... F Scott Tanski was remains out of the lineup and is not expected to play tonight.
Everblades Notes:
The Everblades need to win all three of their remaining games and see the Gwinnett Gladiators lose their final two contests in order to take over first place in the South Division. They are currently tied with the Elmira Jackals for fourth in the Eastern Conference... LW Mathieu Roy leads the league in points with 82. His 35 goals ranks him third in that category... F Matthew Pistilli is fifth in the league in assists with 48... F Corey Trivino is tied for third among rookies with seven game winning goals and is sixth among first year players with 41 points... D Brent Henley leads all defensemen with 194 PIM and is third with 46 minor penalties. He missed yesterday's game due to suspension but is expected to return tonight... D Tyson Gimblett is fourth among blueliners with 166 PIM and 14 major penalties... Florida is 3rd on the power play at 21.8 percent (64-for-294) and 16th on the penalty kill at 81.3 percent (217-for-267)... LW Mathieu Roy leads the team in goals (35) and points (82). F Matthew Pistilli leads the team in assists (48).
