Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria, Ill. (January 29, 2004) â Regent Broadcasting listeners and Rivermen fans will have the opportunity to be part of a private screening of Walt Disney Pictures' "Miracle â The Story Of The Greatest Moment In Sports History" on Wednesday, February 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the GKC Landmark Cinemas.
"Miracle" is the inspiring story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey team that transcended its sport and united a nation with a new feeling of hope. Based on a true story of one of the greatest moments in modern history, the film â which stars Kurt Russell (Head Coach Herb Brooks) â captures the story of a ragtag squad of college kids triumphing over the legendary Soviet Union juggernaut at the Olympic Games.
Regent Broadcasting listeners on 95.5 GLO â Peoria's Classic Rock (WGLO â 95.5 FM), 99X Rocks! (WIXO â 99.9 FM) and 97.3 River Country (WFYR â 97.3 FM) have the opportunity to listen and win one of 75 pairs of tickets to the private screening.
Rivermen season ticket holders have an opportunity to grab one of 20 pairs of tickets when they pick up a Puck Press in the Club Room before the team's Friday, January 30 game against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
On Friday, January 30, the Rivermen host the Cincinnati Cyclones in the first of two in a row between the clubs. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Carver Arena. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will perform in a post-game concert, sponsored by the Par-A-Dice Hotel-Casino. On Saturday, January 31, Peoria and Cincinnati do battle again at 7:30 p.m. at Carver Arena. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Rivermen Hat, courtesy of OSF â St. Francis Medical Center.
