January 29, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release
Janne Jokila scored the only goal in the shootout session to lift the Dayton Bombers to their second straight win, a 2-1 come-from-behind triumph over the Roanoke Express in a "Turn Back the Clock" Night Special played at Hobart Arena in Troy Wednesday night.
Trailing 1-0 entering the third period, the Bombers, who outshot the Express 42-24 in the game, really turned on the offensive pressure, firing fifteen shots at Roanoke goaltender David Bilitski. Olivier Proulx found the back of the net at 1:53 after jamming in a loose puck in the Express goal crease. Janne Jokila assisted on the score.
After a goalless overtime, Jokila tallied in the first round of the shootout, roofing a shot over Belitski. Bombers' goalie Bujar Amidovski proceeded to shut down all five Roanoke shooters. His last save came against defenseman Tim O'Connoll in the fifth round to secure the win. Dan Carney tallied for Roanoke late in the second period.
The Bombers will begin a three-game road trip this Friday (1/30/2004) at Trenton against the Titans (7:30 p.m./ 7:15 p.m. broadcast time on www.daytonbombers.com in association with www.broadcastmonsters.com). The Bombers will play the fourth of seven meetings scheduled against Trenton this season during this Sovereign Bank Arena clash. The Bombers are 2-1 against Trenton in 2003-2004 and bested the Titans 3-2 in a road shootout January 10 in the teams' last head-to-head engagement. The win was backed by goalie Andrew Penner's 40 saves.
The Bombers' next Nutter Center home game is Friday, February 6, 2004 vs. Wheeling (7:00 p.m.). The Bombers will be having their Second Annual Mardi Gras Night at this contest.
