Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors 6-0 victory over the Fresno Falcons on Tuesday featured the annual Project Warm Families Coat Collection, which brought in a record 2,860 coats.

The event, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, KRAB Radio and The Gas Company, collected coats donated by fans to the United Way of Kern County. The United Way will distribute the coats to needy families throughout the community over the next few weeks.

The Project Warm Families coat drive has been held each season in the Condors six-year history, with over 10,000 coats collected. This year's total broke last season's record of approximately 2,400.

"We've broken the record for two consecutive years now, and for that, we have to thank the fans and sponsors," said Condors GM Chris Freshour. "This is a very tangible way of helping the community. There are many people who have benefited from the donations that this annual event has provided."

"The success of this year's Warm Families Coat Drive is a great example of the generosity that exists within our community," said Cori Bonet, director of marketing and communications for United Way of Kern County. "United Way is committed to mobilizing resources to meet the needs that exist in Kern County. Through our partnership with the Condors, the coat drive is just one way we're able to do that."

The next donation event coming up for the Condors is the annual Help for the Homeless canned food drive on Tuesday, February 10th. Sponsored by KGEO AM 1230 and the Bakersfield Grocery Outlet, anyone who brings two (2) canned food items to the game can get a terrace level ticket for just $1. Fans can also drop off donations at the Bakersfield Grocery Outlet at 3917 Buck Owens Blvd. Also in its sixth year, the canned food drive has brought in 5,372 pounds. The record for that event was an even ton (2,000 pounds) during the 2000-01 campaign.

The Condors Coach's Show can be heard live every week on KGEO AM 1230, and is held at the Holiday Inn Select on Thursday nights from 6:00-7:00pm. This week's guests include D Jimmy Drolet and RW Mike Barrie, as well as Head Coach Paul Kelly. The Condors Coach's Show is a great opportunity for Condors fans to get together, meet and greet with players and coaches and win great Condors prizes.

The Condors hit the road for a pair of games this weekend, starting on Friday night in Fresno at 7:00pm. They travel to San Diego for Saturday night's 7:00pm face off against the Gulls. All games, home and away, can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230, with "Condors Countdown" starting 15 minutes prior to faceoff. The Voice of the Condors, Kevin Bartl, handles the play-by-play.

Individual seats are on sale now, and may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location.
