
Inferno game notes versus Columbus Cottonmouths

Columbia Inferno News Release
The Columbia Inferno (26-13-4) and the Columbus Cottonmouths (23-19-4) meet for the fifth time this season. The Inferno is in first place in the Southern Division of the Eastern Conference with 56 points. The Cottonmouths is in third place in the Central Division of the Western Conference with 50 points.
NOTE: Be aware that the circus is in town at the Colonial Center and parking might be heavy by game time. Please make arrangements to park early.
Last Inferno Game - INFERNO 5 Pride 4 (Shootout) Saturday, January 24th Home
The Florence Pride opened the scoring with two goals in the first three minutes of the game. Paul Cabana answered back at 3:41 with his 19th goal and assists by Corey Hessler and Barrie Moore. Florence then scored 22 seconds later to increase their lead to 3-1. At 8:36, Dennis Vial scored on a blue line slap shot with help from Derek Eastman and Tim Smith. Robin Carruthers scored from Vial and Eastman with a wrist shot at 11:25 to tie the game at three. Florence scored on the power play at 14:43 to end the first period with a score of 4-3. That would be the last time the Pride saw a goal. After a scoreless second period, Ryan Petz scored his first goal of the season in his second game back to tie the game to push it in overtime. Cabana and Carruthers had the assist. Tim Smith scored the game-winning goal in the shootout as the Inferno tames the Pride 5-4. Columbia had 39 shots on goal.

Derek Eastman has nine points (1g-8a) in his last seven games...Paul Cabana has 10 points (4g-6a) in his last seven games and is ranked third among ECHL rookies in points with 39 (19g-20a)...Cabana also leads rookies in shots with 166...Robin Carruthers has 10 points (4g-6a) in his last seven games and is among the top leading scorers in the ECHL with 47 points (22g-25a)...Dennis Vial has three points (2g-1a) in his last two games...Tim Smith leads the Inferno in points with 50 (15g-35a)...Greg Amadio leads ECHL rookies in minor penalties with 37 and is ranked third in penalty minutes with 119.

Colin Pepperall leads the Cottonmouths in points with 33 (10g-23a)...Jean-Francis Plourde is ranked second among rookies in shots with 161...Rumun Ndur leads defensemen in the ECHL in penalty minutes with 197...Columbus is ranked fifth in overall penalty killing with 87.1%.
