Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (January 29, 2004) â Trenton battled back twice from deficits against the Atlantic City, but could not solve Bullies goaltender Jake Moreland in the shootout as the Titans fell 4-3 in front of 5,340 at Sovereign Bank Arena
The Titans and Bullies faced off at a rare, 10:30 start on "School Day" game at SBA. Early on, it was Atlantic City doing the teaching, scoring two power play goals in the first period. John Cullen scored his seventeenth goal of the season and Jim Henkel added his twelfth to make the score 2-0
Trenton would come back to tie it up with not even 5:00 gone in the second period. Tyler Kindle got his first goal as a Titan on wraparound beat Moreland through the five-hole. Dan Riva made the score 2-2 1:11 later, when he batted his own rebound of out of the air and into the net for his ninth of the year.
The Bullies took advantage of a funny bounce to retake a one-goal lead. While Chris Houle came out of the net to play a dump-in the bullies, a carom off the glass sent the puck in the slot, where Cullen was able to pound into the open net for his second goal of the season. Matt Zutlek, however would tie it up once again when his slapshot slipped past Moreland and across the goal line for a 3-3 score.
That's the way it would stand through regulation and the overtime period. Jake Moreland would turn away all four Titans shooters and Luke Curtin and Preston Mizzi would put get puck past Houle on the final attempts for the Bullies to clinch the win. Curtin finished with the game winning tally and three assists.
The Titans continue their homestand as they face the Dayton Bombers at 7:30pm on Friday, January 30th as Titans posters courtesy of White Eagle Bank will be handed out at the doors.
