FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to pull out a 4-3 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs on Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. The RedHawks improved to 45-23 overall and 13-10 in the second half with the victory. The Saltdogs fell to 29-40 overall and 8-16 in the second half.
With Joe Mathis on first base with two outs, Brian Sprout singled up the middle off Lincoln closer Mick Pageler to put runners on first and second. When Saltdogs centerfielder JuJu Freeman lobbed the ball back into the infield, Sprout moved to third base, but Ruben Salazar was caught between first and second base. As Lincoln third baseman Josh Patton chased Salazar back to first base, Sprout broke for home and slid safely under the tag for the winning run. RedHawks reliever Steve Montgomery (5-2) earned the victory with a perfect ninth inning. Pageler (4-4) took the loss.
