Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have acquired OF Mike Kirkpatrick from the Sioux Falls Canaries for a player to be named later, the Northern League club announced today. Kirkpatrick will be in uniform tonight as the RedHawks open a three-game series with the Lincoln Saltdogs at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.

Kirkpatrick, 25, was hitting .278 with ten doubles, two triples, two home runs, 11 RBIs and 17 runs scored in 26 games with the Canaries this season. Kirkptrick also had a brief stint with the St. Louis Cardinals organization this season, but an injury ended his time with the Red Birds after 11/2 months.

Kirkpatrick was with the San Angelo (Tex.) Colts of the Central League in 2002. While with San Angelo, Kirkpatrick batted .342 with 19 doubles, seven triples, nine home runs, 71 RBIs and 66 runs scored. He helped lead the Colts to the Central League championship. Following the season, he was a member of Team USA at the Americas Series Tournament in Monterrey and Saltillo, Mexico. Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks manager Doug Simunic was a coach for that team, while current RedHawks RHP Steve Montgomery and 2B Brian Ward also played on the team.

To make room for Kirkpatrick on the roster, the RedHawks have released OF Jason Clark.
