RedHawks rally to top Lincoln

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks scored five runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth inning to defeat the Lincoln Saltdogs 9-5 on Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. With the win, Fargo-Moorhead improved to an American Association-best 47-25 recored. Lincoln dropped to 29-43 with the loss.

Ryan Stovall tied the game 4-4 in the seventh inning with a two-run home run, while Ryan Delgado gave the RedHawks a 5-4 lead with an RBI single in the frame. Carlo Cota added a two-run single to cap the scoring and what proved to be the game-winning RBI.

After spotting the Saltdogs a 3-0 lead, Fargo-Moorhead started chipping away in the bottom of the fourth inning. Todd Jennings and Carlo Cota each had RBI in the frame. Lincoln extended their lead to 4-2 in the seventh inning on a solo home run by Matt Forgatch, but the RedHawks took over scoring seven straight runs.

RedHawks starter Jake Laber (5-5) picked up the victory after pitching 7.0 innings. He allowed four runs on nine hits while striking out three. Lincoln reliever Moises Melendez (0-2) took the loss after allowing three runs on three hits and a pair of walks in 0.2 innings. RedHawks reliever Tom Boleska recorded the final out of the game to collect his 22nd save of the season.

The RedHawks and Saltdogs will play the second game of this three-game series on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. Tyler Herron (6-3, 3.92 ERA) gets the start for Fargo-Moorhead, while Lincoln will counter with Tommy Palica (2-6, 7.48 ERA).
