Wingnuts and Pheasants Suspended Until Saturday

SIOUX FALLS, SD- Friday night's game between the Wichita Wingnuts and Sioux Falls Pheasants at Sioux Falls Stadium has been suspended due to a power outage and inclement weather with the Pheasants leading 7-5 with two outs and no one on base in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Friday's game will be completed late Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Saturday's original game will go on as planned at 6:05 p.m. and is still scheduled for nine innings.

Ryan Khoury led off the game with a double down the right field line and later scored on an error by left fielder Ridge Carpenter with John Rodriguez at the plate.

Consecutive singles from Cory Morales, Jared Bolden, and Reggie Abercrombie helped Sioux Falls load the bases with one out in the bottom of the first inning. Cesar Nicolas cleared the bases with a three-run double down the left field line that landed on the chalk just short of the fence.

Joe Anthonsen and Morales hit back-to-back singles with one out in the bottom of the second. After Bolden flied out to right field, Abercrombie lined a three-run homer to left-center that made it 6-1.

Wichita rallied for four runs in the top of the fifth to pull within 6-5. David Peralta led off with a single through the right side and took third on Jessie Mier's line drive single down the right field line. Jared McDonald cut the Pheasants' lead to 6-3 with a two-run triple to left-center. McDonald scored the Wingnuts' fourth run on Wilberto Ortiz's groundout to shortstop. With one out and no one on base, Khoury walked and went to third on a groundball double down the right field line by Mike Conroy. Rodriguez drove in Khoury with a groundout to second base.

Nicolas hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 7-5 Sioux Falls.

Derek Blacksher started for the Wingnuts and allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits in six innings of work. Blacksher walked two, struck out three, and is currently the pitcher of record for Wichita.

Mitchell Clegg started for the Pheasants and has allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits in seven innings. Clegg has walked one and struck out two. Clegg is still in the ballgame for the Pheasants.

James Baker is currently in the game for Wichita. Reggie Abercrombie is at the plate with a 2-1 count.
