Kansas City Monarchs News Release
Pomona, N.Y. - Devin Anderson hurled seven innings of one-run ball and Kansas City smashed two home runs as the T-Bones dominated the Rockland Boulders, 8-2, in the series and road trip opener at Provident Bank Park on Friday night.
Anderson (6-5) got the win, allowing five hits with no walks. Anderson worked perfect first and second innings, and didn't give up his lone run of the night until the fifth.
In the meantime, the T-Bones offense gave their starter all that he needed. With two outs and two on in the top of the third, Lee Cruz lined a single to left that broke a scoreless tie. Then, slugger Ray Sadler, who had not homered since July 11th at Wichita, launched a three-run homer to left, making the score 4-0. The home run was Sadler's 56th over his three years in Kansas City and 201st as a professional.
Liberty, Mo. native Hunter Mense hit a solo home run, his fifth, that highlighted a three-run fourth inning as the T-Bones, for all intents and purposes, put the game away. Kansas City tacked on another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Jones, who tallied two RBIs on the evening and now has 55 on the season.
Kansas City (40-33), gets set to send Brian Grening to the mound for game two of the nine-game road trip against teams from the Can-Am League, on Saturday night at 6:05 CT. The game can be heard on the KMBZ Business Channel (1660 AM) or online at www.tbonesbaseball.com.
