Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Albuquerque, N.M. - Trailing by two runs in the ninth inning, the Oklahoma City RedHawks scored six times and then held on to win 13-10 over the Albuquerque Isotopes before 10,423 at Isotopes Park Saturday night.
Down 9-7 with a runner on and one out in the ninth inning, Che-Hsuan Lin hit a home run into the Albuquerque bullpen in left field to tie the game.
Jonathan Villar and Carlos Perez each followed with singles and an Albuquerque error put them at second and third with one out. Robbie Grossman then sent a ground ball back to the pitcher Steve Ames (1-2), but Ames' throw to the plate was low, allowing Villar to score.
Jake Elmore stepped up next and ripped a two-run triple to give Oklahoma City a 12-9 lead. Elmore then scored on a fielder's choice by Brett Wallace to finish the six-run rally.
The Isotopes rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring once and loading the bases with two outs. The RedHawks then brought in closer Jose Valdez, who struck out J.R. Towles to end the game as Valdez earned his 12th save of the season.
The win was the RedHawks fourth straight and their third when trailing after eight innings this season. They set a season high for a nine-inning game with 18 hits in what was their longest nine-inning game of year at 4 hours, 17 minutes.
The RedHawks (31-23) struck first, scoring three times with two outs in the second inning. Perez knocked a two-run double off the wall in left-center field, and Grossman followed with an RBI single to make it 3-1.

Brandon Laird and Fernando Martinez connected on back-to-back home runs in top of the third inning to extend the lead to 5-1. It was the first back-to-back home runs by the RedHawks since Scott Moore and Mike Hessman did it against Omaha on June 25, 2012.
The Isotopes (29-27) had none on with two outs in the bottom of the third inning wheny they rallied for two runs on three straight extra-base hits. Tony Gwynn, Jr. hit an RBI double, and Alex Castellanos provided an RBI triple to make it 5-3.
Albuquerque took its first lead after scoring four times in the fourth. A Towles RBI single pulled the Isotopes within one. With two outs, Justin Sellers hit a three-run homer to give Albuquerque a 7-5 advantage.
Sellers finished the game 4-for-5 and fell a triple shy of the cycle.
The RedHawks would respond with two runs in the next inning to tie the game. Laird brought in his second run on a groundout, and Jonathan Villar drew a bases loaded walk to knot the score at seven runs apiece.

The teams combined for 34 hits, with 16 coming by the Isotopes. Over the past three games, the RedHawks allowed just 11 hits combined.
RedHawks reliever Alex Sogard (1-0) earned his first Triple-A win, allowing one run over one inning-plus.
