ROUND ROCK, Texas - Behind 7.0 strong innings from starter Josh Lindblom, the Round Rock Express (32-25) held off a late surge by the Nashville Sounds (17-38) to win its second straight game, 3-2.

The lone blemish on Lindblom's night came in the third inning when Nashville broke a scoreless tie with a leadoff home run off the bat of catcher Blake Lalli as the Sounds took an early 1-0 lead.

Following the homer, the right-hander worked his way around trouble to hold Nashville scoreless over his final 4.0 innings on the mound.

Round Rock's offense woke up in the bottom of the fourth after being held scoreless for the first three frames. Second baseman Yangervis Solarte began the inning with his 10th double of the season, extending his hitting streak to an Express season-long 14 games. After moving to third two outs later, shortstop Greg Miclat singled to plate Solarte and knot the game at one apiece. The offense rallied with two down as third baseman Mark Teahen singled to center, moving Miclat to third and scoring right fielder Jim Adduci who had reached earlier on a fielder's choice.

The Express padded its lead in the bottom half of the seventh when center fielder Engel Beltre worked a one-out walk and later scored on a single by first baseman Chris McGuiness, giving the E-Train a two-run cushion.

Leading 3-1, the Express turned the game over to its bullpen as right-hander Evan Meek took the ball to begin the eighth. Lindblom's night ended after seven innings of one-run ball, scattering four hits to log his third straight quality start.

After allowing the first two batters to reach, Meek induced a 6-4-3 double play but Blake Davis was able to advance to third. With a chance to hold the Sounds scoreless, the right-hander forced left fielder Khris Davis to ground a ball to shortstop but Miclat was unable to make the play, allowing Davis to cross the plate and pull Nashville within one at 3-2.

After failing to add to its lead in the bottom of the frame, the Express turned to closer Cory Burns for the second straight night in the ninth inning. First baseman Hunter Morris began the frame with a single and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Robinson Chirinos when attempting to steal second. The E-Train defense buckled down and caught Morris in a run down between third and home on a ground ball to McGuiness, eventually tagging out the Nashville first baseman for the second out. With a runner on second and two strikes on the batter, Burns forced Blake Davis into a game-ending ground out, earning his team-leading 13th save.

Lindblom picked up the win, keeping his record spotless at 6-0. Nashville starter Zach Kroenke (2-8) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs (one earned) over his 7.0 innings of work.

The Express continues a four-game set with the Sounds Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Scott Richmond (1-0, 2.40 ERA) will take the mound for Round Rock to face Nashville's Johnnie Lowe (0-0, 4.68 ERA). Monday will also be Military Appreciation Night, presented by Navy Federal Credit Union at Dell Diamond which will include tributes to several branches of the military and much more.
