Round Rock, Tex. - Martin Perez allowed one hit over seven scoreless innings and for the second time in three games, the Oklahoma City RedHawks (40-28) were shutout, falling 2-0 to the Round Rock Express (30-39) before 10,006 at The Dell Diamond Friday night.

Perez (4-5) threw 101 pitches and tied a season high with seven innings, earning his first win since May 7. The only hit he allowed was a leadoff double to Brandon Barnes in the third inning. Despite walking five hitters, Perez limited the RedHawks to a 0-for-8 mark with runners on base. He retired his final 11 batters and struck out five.

The Express pounced for two quick runs in the first inning. With two outs, Joey Butler and Yangervis Solarte delivered back-to-back RBI singles.

Making his first road start since joining the RedHawks, Brian Bass was able to dodge trouble on a few occasions to keep the RedHawks close. Although he ended up allowing nine hits and four walks, Bass (1-1) held the Express to one hit over their final eight at-bats with runners in scoring position.

Heading into the ninth, the RedHawks had just two hits and the Express pitching staff had retired 14 of the last 15 hitters. Mike Hessman and Brad Snyder each singled to start off the inning to put the tying runners on. Snyder's single extended his current hitting streak to 13 games, the best by a RedHawk this season.

Mark Hamburger then retired the next three hitters in order to keep the RedHawks off the scoreboard and preserve the victory for his second save of the season.

The RedHawks finished 1-for-15 with runners on base.

The RedHawks will try and bounce back when they face the Express at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night. Live coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on AM 1340 The Game, 1340thegame.com, or through the free IHeartRadio mobile app.
