Redbirds To Wear Commemorative Camouflage Jerseys And Military Hats On Saturday

July 3, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds will honor and celebrate the United States Armed Forces by sporting commemorative camouflage jerseys and local military unit hats for their 6:05 p.m. contest on Saturday, July 6 at AutoZone Park.

A Salute to Armed Forces Night-themed postgame fireworks extravaganza will conclude the special evening after the Redbirds face the cross-state rival Nashville Sounds.

Each Redbirds player and member of the coaching staff will be wearing a military hat with a patch representing a local service man/woman from the Mid-South currently deployed overseas. More information regarding each player's hat and its corresponding unit is attached.

"This Independence Day weekend, we wanted a special way to pay tribute to our local service men and women in America's game," said Redbirds Marketing Manager Erin O'Donnell.

"Having each player onfield to represent a different soldier was one small way we can remind those in attendance how much we owe our freedom to these individuals."

Jerseys will be available during the game for a silent auction and postgame during a live auction in the plaza. Select players are tentatively scheduled to be on hand during the postgame live auction.

Discounted tickets for military members and their families are available by calling (901) 722-0251. Ticket packages are currently on sale. Visit the Redbirds website at www.memphisredbirds.com or call (901) 722-0299 for more information. Gates open at 5:00 p.m.
