Red Claws Take Down Knicks

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, bounced back from last night's loss to defeat the Westchester Knicks, 112-100 Saturday night at the Portland Expo.

The Red Claws were led by the assignees from the Boston Celtics. Jordan Mickey led all scorers with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Terry Rozier, assigned to Maine before the game, came close to a triple-double, with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Omari Johnson added 21 for Maine (7-6). Westchester (10-4) was led by Jordan Bachynski with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Jimmer Fredette added 19 points for the Knicks.

The Red Claws came out hot in the first quarter, putting up 34 points. Johnson and Andre Stringer (8 points, 8 assists) hit big three pointers in the opening stanza. Maine led 34-27. The Claws kept the pressure on in the second period, taking a 62-51 lead into the break.

The Knicks countered in the third quarter, getting back into the game. Big buckets by Johnson and Levi Randolph (15 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists), righted the ship; Maine led 86-76 after three.

In the fourth period, Westchester made a run, but the Claws settled it with a 9-0 run of their own. Johnson hit big shots down the stretch to put it away.

The Red Claws now hit the road for two games at Iowa on Dec. 26 & 28. The Red Claws return home for a New Year's Eve matinee - a 1 p.m. game vs. Texas on Dec. 31. Tickets are on sale by calling 207-210-6655 or visiting MaineRedClaws.com.
