
Warriors Extend Win Streak to Five, Defeat the Jam at Home

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors (9-4) defeated the Bakersfield Jam (7-8) 99-93 on Friday at Kaiser Permanente Arena. With this victory Santa Cruz extends their win streak to five, holding onto the longest active win streak in the D-League.
Elliot Williams notched a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Darington Hobson recorded 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Verdell Jones III added 17 points.
Earl Clark paced the Jam with a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds. Xavier Munford posted 24 points and 5 assists, while Renaldo Major added 15 points.
Bakersfield jumped out to an early 16-6 lead in the opening minutes of the game behind Xavier Munford's shooting spree, accounting for half of Bakersfield's early points. Santa Cruz would respond with a 10-5 scoring run at the 4:49 mark, ending the first quarter at a five-point deficit.
The second quarter was a closely contested battle that would see three lead changes and five ties. The Warriors outrebounded Bakersfield (17-9) and outshot the Jam from the field (57.1%-30.4%), entering the locker room with a two-point edge.
The score would remain close coming out of the break until Bakersfield went on a 12-7 run to take a 71-66 lead with just over three minutes to play in the third quarter. Bakersfield ended the third frame with a four-point advantage.
Santa Cruz would tie the game at 79-79, four minutes into the final frame. Both teams remained in a tight battle for the remainder of the game until Darington Hobson scored a three-point shot at the 5:03 mark to put the Warriors up 91-85. Santa Cruz would never relinquish the lead, defeating the Jam 99-93.
