New York Red Bulls News Release
17-year-old Caden Clark scored for the second-straight match to help the New York Red Bulls (7-8-3, 24 pts) earn a draw with Toronto FC (11-2-5, 38 pts), 1-1 on Wednesday at Rentschler Field.
A handball in the box by Dru Yearwood gave a penalty kick opportunity to Toronto in the 22nd minute. Alejandro Pozuelo took the attempt and finished inside of the right post to give TFC the 1-0 lead.
During the counterattack, Marc Rzatkowski fed Clark towards the top of the box and Clark sent a wonder strike underneath the cross bar for the equalizer in the 77th minute.
Clark is the youngest player to score in his first two MLS appearances in league history.
Rzatkowski recorded his first assist of the season and 16th MLS regular-season assist of his career. The German midfielder became the 12th different Red Bulls player to tally an assist this season.
Yonkers native Ryan Meara recorded five saves to preserve the 1-1 draw. Meara has allowed just one goal or less in 20 of 31 MLS regular-season matches.
New York grabbed at least a point where they gave up the first goal of the match for the second time this season, previously winning 4-1 to Montreal after going down 1-0 early.
The Red Bulls improved to 3-2-3 on the road and remained in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 24 points.
Interim Head Coach Bradley Carnell owns a 4-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 on the road.
New York is 30-19-12 all-time in the month of October. The Red Bulls have scored 97 goals and allowed 77 in the 10th month of the year.
New York heads back to Red Bull Arena as they face Orlando City on Sunday. Sunday's kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with coverage on MSG and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish.
