Red Deer, AB - The Calgary Hitmen opened a weekend home-and-home set with the Red Deer Rebels but dropped a 3-0 decision on Friday night at Peavey Mart Centrium.

Goaltender Connor Unger made 24 saves to record the shutout while Arshdeep Bains, Blake Stevenson and Ben King provided the goals.

After the Bains tally midway through the opening frame, Stevenson's marker came shorthanded 31 seconds into the third period and was followed by King's effort just over six minutes later.
