
Ams Begin Three-In-Three on the Road against Royals

The Americans will open a three-in-three B.C. trip tonight in Victoria. They will take on the Royals once again tomorrow night before heading to Vancouver for a Sunday matinee game against the Giants. After this road trip the team will break for the Christmas holiday returning for a game in Portland on December 27.
This is Tri-City's first visit to Victoria since January 14 & 15, 2020 when they lost both games to the Royals (3-1, 6-1).
The two teams have already met once this season in Kennewick, when the Americans scored three third period goals to comeback from a 3-0 deficit and push the game into overtime. Tarun Fizer scored the game-winning OT goal with 1:00 remaining in the extra period. Tri-City's goals all came even strength with two from Parker Bell and one from Sasha Mutala.
The Americans most recently played on Tuesday when they ended a season-high three game winning streak with a 7-1 loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds in Kennewick. Sasha Mutala scored Tri-City's only goal of the night on the power play, tying the game at one with 2:40 remaining in the first period. Mutala is now on a six game point streak with seven goals and three assists over that period. Jake Sloan received an assist on the goal. The 17-year-old forward is also on a six game point streak with four goals and three assists.
Tomas Suchanek played the full game in net for the Americans and stopped 31 of 38 shots faced. Tri-City was out shot 38-22.
Jordan Gavin joined the team in Victoria and is expected to make his WHL debut this weekend. Tri-City selected the 2006-born forward second overall in the recent 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.
