Brooke Kosolofski Hits Major Milestone with Warriors

Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

Friday night's game in Regina will be a special one for Moose Jaw Warriors athletic therapist Brooke Kosolofski as it will be his 500th on the Warriors' bench.

"It's definitely a special moment, special game," Kosolofski said on Thursday.

Kosolofski joined the Warriors during the 2013-14 season, replacing Curtis Amoit, who left to join the Moose Jaw Police Service.

Eight years later and Kosolofski is still going strong with the organization.

"That's something that I'm proud of that it's all with Moose Jaw," he said. "I've been treated very well in my time here and this is now my home, this where my fiancé's from, so it's real special for me."

Kosolofski has been through a lot with the Warriors during his time with the team.

His first game on the Warriors' bench came on Dec. 27 in Swift Current. The team picked up a 3-2 shootout win over the Broncos with two future NHL players, Brayden Point and Jack Rodewald, scoring in the win.

"Sam Fioretti scored a shootout goal and Scott Cooke knocked somebody out, so that was the welcome to the Western Hockey League for me," Kosolofski said.

"I do remember though, those first few practices and the game, I couldn't believe how much faster it was coming from junior A to the Western League."

Kosolofski joined the Warriors from the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

He said there were definitely some nerves going into that first game.

"You're moving, it's definitely a jump, so there's definitely some nerves, you want to make sure that you're ready and you're prepared, and that's what I've tried to do over my time here is to make sure I'm prepared for anything that comes my way," Kosolofski said.

Since joining the Warriors, Kosolofski has represented Canada twice at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

He's also seen some of the biggest moments in Warriors' history.

"There's a few games that stick out for me," he said. "[Jayden Halbgewachs] a few years ago when he had four goals and six points for 50 [goals] and 100 [points in the season], that was a really cool game just because everybody was so excited for him."

Kosolofski was also a part of the Warriors team that won the Scotty Munro Trophy as the regular season champions in 2017-18.

He said that season is still a sore spot for him however.

"I thought we had the team, it's just we got banged up and the therapist couldn't get them back on the ice," Kosolofski joked.

When he joined the Warriors, Kosolofski served as the team's athletic therapist and equipment manager, but the equipment manager role is now held by Tanner Arnold.

Kosolofski gives Arnold a lot of credit for allowing him to focus solely on keeping the players healthy.

He said it's special to share this game with him.

"We pretty much do everything together," Kosolofski said. "He's very good at his job, he's very dedicated, very professional and it makes my job a whole bunch easier.

"It definitely makes the night pretty special to have him right beside me."

Kosolofski said former Warriors general manager Alan Millar is one of the people, who have had the biggest impact on him during his time with the team.

"He was the guy that hired me, so obviously I give a lot of credit to him and putting his trust in me to look after the players here in Moose Jaw," he said.

"Tim Hunter and Mark O'Leary, we mentioned Tanner Arnold and then the people in the front office, Scott King, there's a lot of people that do a lot of things for me that make my job a lot easier, so I really appreciate that."

Kosolofski's 500th game also happens to fall on his birthday.

"It's kind of cool that it runs on the same day," he said.

Kosolofski and the Warriors hit the ice at 7 p.m. on Friday night in Regina.
