Brandon, MB - The Brandon Wheat Kings will hit a new milestone tonight, when they play in their 3,800th franchise game in the WHL.
Since entering the league in the 1967-68 campaign, the Wheat Kings have compiled an impressive record of 1858 wins, 1645 losses, 124 OT losses, 69 shootout losses and 103 ties.
The club's 1,857 franchise victories is the most in the WHL, just ahead of the Medicine Hat Tigers (1,849) and Saskatoon Blades (1,816) who round out the top three.
Brandon registered their 1,800th victory back on November 11th, 2019, in a 7-2 victory over the Winnipeg ICE at Westoba Place.
Over the course of Brandon's 3,799 franchise games to date, Kelly McCrimmon was at the helm as Head Coach for just shy of 25% of those games. McCrimmon sits 12th in the WHL in all-time victories with a record of 465-321-61 in 847 games behind the bench.
The Wheat Kings, who have captured three league titles (1979, 1996 and 2016) continues to have a stranglehold on the Canadian Hockey League's all-time record of 125 points, which they finished with during the 1978-79 campaign.
The club, which was led by the likes of Brian Propp, Ray Allison, Laurie Boschman and Brad McCrimmon posted a brilliant 58-5-9 record on their way to a league championship and to within one goal of capturing the Memorial Cup.
