Washington Wild Things News Release

Rosemont, IL - Three early runs in the first inning gave the Chicago Bandits a lead that would never vanquish as they won their second straight game against the Pennsylvania Rebellion, presented by The Coury Financial Group, 6-3 Saturday at Rosemont Stadium.

Chicago got off to a fast start, taking a 4-0 lead after three innings. The Bandits collected six hits, scoring all four runs off the bats of Bandits sluggers Megan Wiggins, Tammy Williams and Brittany Cervantes.

In the top of the fourth, the Rebellion made the bid for a comeback as a passed ball scored Lauren Lappin to make the score 4-1. A sacrifice fly by Jenn Salling scored Bianca Mejia to cut the Chicago lead in half, 4-2.

Former Florida State standout and Pennsylvania rookie Briana Hamilton cranked her first homer of the year over the centerfield wall to pull the Rebellion within one, 4-3.

However, the Bandits added two more insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead 6-3. The Rebellion were able to get runners in scoring position in the sixth and seventh innings, however fell short as Bandits pitchers Andrea Williamson and Monica Abbot pitched their way out of jams.

Williamson earned the win for the Bandits in the circle, as Abbott earned the save. Rebellion first round draft pick Dallas Escobedo walked away with the loss for Pennsylvania.

Hamilton and Samantha Garcia highlighted the Rebellion offense with two hits each in a losing effort.

The Rebellion and Bandits end the four-game series Sunday, July 13 at 4:05 p.m. EST. All of the action can be found online at www.msasports.net/broadcasts, or view the game live at http://www.highschoolcube.com.
