(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (30-18) earned their third win in a row on Saturday night when they won 6-1 against the Lake Erie Crushers.

LHP Zach Fowler (1-1) fueled the Otters victory, going 6.2 scoreless innings and recording a season-best eight strikeouts.

Third baseman Shayne Houck and designated hitter Chris Sweeney both homered in the win. Houck, Sweeney, and Wilson all had multi-hit games on the night.

The game was scoreless for the first two innings until Evansville manufactured a run in the third. Infielder Phillip Wilson led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a grounder from catcher Kolin Conner and scored on the groundout by shortstop Corey Urquhart.

Ahead 1-0, the Otters received another home run from Houck in the fourth. It was his team high 12th home run of the season and fifth in the last six games. Not to be outdone, Sweeney homered two batters later to increase the lead to four.

Lake Erie nearly scored in the fifth against Fowler but outfielder Chris Elder threw out Kevin Franchetti at the plate to end the inning.

Evansville scored again in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Jeremy Nowak and an eighth inning RBI single by Wilson for the 6-0 edge.

Lake Erie scored once in the ninth and nearly had another run until J.R. Higley threw out Zach Bricknell at the plate to end the game.

Evansville will now look for their first three game series sweep of the season on Sunday at Bosse Field. The Otters will have Rockport, IN native and LHP Blake Monar (1-1, 9.95 ERA) on the mound. The Crushers have yet to announce their starter. First pitch is set for 5:05 pm CDT. Fans can purchase tickets by calling the Otters front office at 812-435-8686.
