Play Suspended in the Third
July 12, 2014 - Frontier League (FL)
Rockford Aviators News Release
LOVES PARK, IL - The game between the Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, and the Frontier Greys was suspended in the middle of the third inning due to weather.
Cameron Monger led off the game with a double for the Greys and was advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, but was left stranded as Aviators pitcher, Kyle Brueggemann, retired the next two batters to end the first inning with the score tied at zero.
After the final out of the top of the inning, the rain began to fall, and play was suspended.
After about a thirty minute rain delay, play resumed in the bottom of the first inning.
In the bottom of the second inning, Danny Gonzalez hit an RBI single to center field that scored Brian Bistagne to give the Aviators a 1-0 lead.
Brueggemann worked through the top of the third before play was again suspended and the game was put on hold.
The game will be resumed on Wednesday, September 3 at 6:05 p.m. as part of a double-header. The game will be played the full nine innings and will be followed by a seven inning game.
The Aviators and the Greys will play the final two games of the series tomorrow night at 5:05 p.m. Gates will open at 4:05 p.m.
It will be YMCA Family day at the ball park and all kids 12 and under will receive $2 admission. There will be extra inflatable games for the kids and they will be able to play catch on the field before the game and run the bases after the game.
