Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
DAVENPORT, IA - Juan Carlos Negret was a one-man fireworks show for the Quad Cities River Bandits on Monday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Negret had four hits, including two homers, and drove in seven runs to lead the Bandits to an 11-1 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the series finale between the two teams.
Wisconsin (5-4 second half, 31-42 second half) took the lead in the top of the third inning. Terence Doston drew a lead-off walk. Robert Moore followed with a single to center and Doston took third on the play. Matt Wood got Doston home with a grounder to the right side of the infield and the River Bandits could only get the out at second base.
The River Bandits (3-6, 35-40) used the long ball to take a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Negret hit his first homer of the game on the first pitch he saw from Cameron Wagoner in the bottom of the fourth. This one was a two-run homer to give the Bandits a 2-1 lead. Wagoner retired the next two batters before giving up a solo homer to Shervyen Newton.
Cayden Wallace added to the Quad Cities lead with an RBI single in the fifth. A double by Carter Jensen moved Wallace to third base and moved Wagoner out of the game.
Then, Negret launched a 1-2 pitch from reliever Michele Vassalotti to left-center for a three-run homer and a 7-1 lead.
Quad Cities poured on the offense in the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Herard Gonzalez and Kale Emshoff had back-to-back RBI doubles against reliever Brannon Jordan. In the eighth, Negret got one more crack and he doubled in two more runs for an 11-1 lead.
Joe Gray Jr had three hits to lead the Rattlers offense. Ernesto Martinez Jr had two hits and extended his current hitting streak to nine games.
Moore's single in the third inning moved his on-base streak to 21 games.
The teams split the six-game series. However, the River Bandits win on Monday clinched the season series between the teams with six meetings left between Wisconsin and Quad Cities. The Bandits are up 13-5 in the season series.
