ALBANY, NY-Drayson Bowman scored the game winning goal at 2:16 of overtime to lift the Albany River Rats to a 7-6 victory over the Springfield Falcons Saturday night at the Times Union Center.

Albany had a 6-3 lead early in the third period, but the Falcons battled back with a pair of goals separated by just 32 seconds midway through the frame, and Liam Reddox's tied the game with 3.4 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Bowman flew down the right wing midway through the sudden-death session, threw on the breaks and ripped a top-shelf screamer to the short side to halt Albany's three game losing streak.

River Rats forwards Jerome Samson and Jacob Micflikier scored two goals each and rookie defenseman Jamie McBain chipped in three assists, as Albany improved to 27-19-3-2 this season.

Samson netted two goals in the opening minute of action, but the Falcons came back to level the score before the period was finished and Bryan Lerg gave the Springfield its first lead of the game at 9:27 of the second period. The River Rats responded just 30 seconds after Lerg's go-ahead tally with Yannick Tifu's first goal of the season, and Micflikier scored the frame's next two markers to make it 5-3 River Rats.

Milan Gajic, in his River Rats debut, connected on a one-time feed from McBain at 6:19 of the third period to extend Albany's lead to 6-3, but the Falcons weren't finished yet. Charles Linglet closed Springfield's deficit to two goals with a power play tally at 10:03 of the final frame and the Falcons made it a one-goal game 32 seconds later with a Reddox tip-in. The Falcons pulled their goaltender in the final minute of action for an extra attacker and Reddox struck again 3.4 with seconds remaining to force overtime.

Albany travels to Binghamton Wednesday for a 7:05 p.m. match-up with the Senators. River Rats 2009-10 pro-rated season and flexible ticket packages are now on sale at the River Rats executive offices at the Times Union Center, by calling (518) 487-2244 or by logging onto www.albanyriverrats.com.
