Springfield Falcons News Release

The Springfield Falcons trailed by three goals midway through the third period, but rallied to earn a point in the standings dropping a 7-6 decision in overtime to the Albany River Rats on Saturday night at the Times Union Center. Liam Reddox's goal with three-seconds remaining in regulation sent the contest to the extra session and brought the Falcons all the way back from a 6-3 deficit in the final 10 minutes of play. Reddox scored a pair of third period goals, while Sasha Pokulok ended the evening with three assists.

"Trailing by three with 10 minutes to play, that was a good point to get tonight," said Falcons head coach Rob Daum. "There were a lot of good signs tonight and battling back like we did multiple times in the game was a positive for us."

The scoring started fast and furious on Saturday and didn't seem to stop all night. The Falcons fell behind 2-0 early in the first period when Jerome Samson scored a pair of goals in the first minute of play. The Falcons battled back and cut their deficit to 2-1 at 4:35 of the opening frame when Colton Fretter scored his team-leading 22nd marker of the year. Slava Trukhno tied the score at 2-2 when he scored his eighth goal of the year at 14:19 of the first period sending the contest deadlocked at 2-2 after 20 minutes.

In the second period, the Falcons took their first lead of the night when Bryan Lerg scored his fourth goal of the year at 9:27 of the middle frame. Albany quickly responded just 30-seconds later when Yannick Tifu tied the score at 3-3. Jacob Micflikier gave Albany a 4-3 lead at 12:09 of the second period, followed by his second goal of the game just over a minute later on the power play expanding the Rats' lead to 5-3 through 40 minutes.

In the third period, Albany took a 6-3 advantage at 5:19 when Milan Gajic scored his first of the year. Charles Linglet started the Falcons comeback at 10:03 of the final frame with a power play goal, followed by Reddox's two markers.

The game also got a little chippy in the third period with all 10 players on the ice grabbing a dance partner with Theo Peckham and Johan Motin picking up fighting majors for the Falcons. The scrum appeared to energize the Falcons to their three-goal third period.
