Americans defeat Senators

Rochester - The Rochester Americans defeated the Binghamton Senators 5-4, tonight at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The win snaps the Amerks two game losing streak. It also improves their record to 30-19-2-0 on the season.

The Amerks were lead by Graham Mink and Alexander Salak. Mink netted two goals for the Amerks to earn the second star of the game. Despite letting up four goals, Salak was rewarded with tonight's first star of the games as he stopped 53 of 57 shots on goal. Josh Hennessy led the way for the Senators, scoring twice in tonight's contest.

Mink put the Amerks up 1-0 at the 10:21 mark of the first period. Mink's 14th goal of the season was assisted by Evgeny Dadonov and Chris Taylor.

Hennessy tied the game at one as he found himself a goal at the 12:44 mark of the first period. Hennessy's power-play goal was assisted by Ryan Keller and Martin St. Pierre. The Amerks regained there lead at the 6:45 mark of the second period when Kenndal McArdle beat former teammate Mike Brodeur. McArdle's third goal of the season was assisted by Rory Fitzpatrick and David Brine, Just over a minute later Mink netted his second goal of the night to put Rochester ahead by two. Clay Wilson assisted on Mink's 15th goal of the season. Just over a minute later Wilson capitalized on the power-play to increase the lead to 4-1.

The Senators cut the Amerks lead in half as they got a power-play goal of their own from Zack Smith at the 13:38 mark of the second period.

Michael Duco sixth goal of the season put the Amerks up by three once again at the 17:22 mark of the second period.

With their third power-play goal of the night the Senators cut the lead to two as Kaspars Daugavins netted his 13th goal of the season. Dougavins' goal came at the 6:02 mark of the second period. With 54 seconds remaining the Senators pulled with in one when Hennessy tallied his second goal of the game.

Things heat up at The Blue Cross Arena at 7:05 pm on February 12th when the Rochester Americans take on the Abbotsford Heat. The will be broadcasted live on 1280 WHTK, 107.3 FM and whtk.com.
