SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse Crunch scored five third period goals on their way to a 5-0 shutout of the Adirondack Phantoms Saturday night at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter.

After a scoreless first period where the Crunch led in shots on goal 8-3, the Phantoms carried the play in the second frame, out-shooting Syracuse 14-6. Crunch goaltender Kevin Lalande had an outstanding period, making numerous stretching split-pad saves to deny Adirondack. At the other end John Grahame did not see a lot of shots, but had to be very alert to stop Trevor Frischmon's shorthanded breakaway.

In the third period the tides turned when Jared Aulin scored a power play goal to open the scoring at 2:30, but the real dagger was Jonathan Siglet's goal 47 seconds later, which gave the Crunch a quick 2-0 lead. Sigalet struck again five minutes later with a power play goal, his second of the night at 8:12 to make it 3-0. Aulin added his second of the game at 16:11, just as Patrick Maroon was stepping out of the penalty box, and Alexander Picard scored his 11th goal of the year at 18:11 to cap off a five-goal third period for Syracuse, who out-shot the Phantoms 22-3 during the frame.

Kevin Lalande earned the victory and made 22 saves for his first shutout of the year as Syracuse improved to 22-23-3-3. John Grahame finished with 31 saves on 36 shots as Adirondack dropped back to .500 (23-23-2-2). The Crunch out-shot the Phantoms 36-22 in the game and went 2-for-5 on the power play; Adirondack was 0-for-7 with the man-advantage.

Adirondack now returns home as they host the Western Conference's Rochester Americans on Wednesday, February 10th for a 7:00 pm face off at the Civic Center.
