ROUND ROCK, TX- Playing against his former club, Cody Ransom homered and doubled Wednesday night, lifting the Reno Aces to a 7-2 victory over the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond.
Ransom, who played for the Express in 2006 and 2007, drove in three runs on the evening, thanks to a two-run homer in the second and an RBI double in the fourth. Reno sprung out to a quick 2-0 lead and never trailed, taking a 2-1 advantage in the series.
Aces starter Matt Torra (3-0) earned the victory Wednesday, holding the Express to just two runs on seven hits over seven innings of work. Torra struck out six-reaching 500-career strikeouts. Bryan Shaw worked a perfect eighth, and Jason Urquidez slammed the door in the ninth.
The loss fell to Round Rock starter Seth McClung (2-1), who surrendered five runs on six hits over four innings of work. Three Express relievers held Reno to two runs over the game's final five frames.
