
Zephyrs Fall in a Long Afternoon in Sacramento

Sacramento, California - The Sacramento River Cats scored four first inning runs and cruised to a 10-4 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs.
New Orleans starter Todd Doolittle walked a batter, allowed a single and Josh Donaldson ripped a two RBI double to score a pair. He walked Anthony Recker and then the umpires called for the tarp. The rain-delay lasted three hours and twenty minutes. Doolittle didn't return but was charged with four runs and suffered the loss.
Sacramento used seven pitchers on the afternoon and Trystan Magnuson worked two innings and was awarded the win. Bryan Petersen led the way for New Orleans with three hits. Ruben Gotay smacked a two run home run in the ninth inning. The Zephyr offense pounded out 13 hits and left eight men on base.
Game Notes -The Z's fell to 1-20 when trailing after six innings and 0-18 when trailing after 8 innings. The Zephyrs endured their first rain-delay of the season, 3:20 minutes in the bottom of first inning. The time of game including the rain delay was six hours and 16 minutes. Tampa Bay Rays claimed pitcher Jay Buente off of waivers, the former Zephyr has been assigned to the Class-AAA Durham Bulls. The Zephyrs are 4-3 on their eight game west coast road-trip.
