
Sounds Open Action-Packed Eight-Game Homestand on Friday at Greer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds return home to Greer Stadium this Friday, May 27, to open an eight-game homestand against the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Astros affiliate) and division-rival Iowa Cubs (Cubs affiliate).
Highlighting the week's worth of promotions will be three fireworks shows, kids batting helmet giveaway, Taco Bell Throwback Thursday, two Purity Faith Nights(r) concerts, and "Pink in the Park Night" - a special American Cancer Society evening at the ballpark during which the Sounds will wear pink jerseys on the field.
Friday's 7:05 p.m. opener with the Oklahoma City RedHawks will mark the first of two Purity Faith Night(r) concerts of the homestand. The Fellowship at Two Rivers Church will play a concert on the plaza stage near the first-base entrance at Greer Stadium, beginning at 6:05 pm. Firestone Friday Fireworks will light up the sky following the action on the field. Gates open a half-hour earlier than normal at 5:35 p.m.
For Saturday's 6:35 p.m. contest with the RedHawks, the first 1,000 children 12 and under through the turnstiles will receive a kids batting helmet, thanks to Purity Dairies. Combined with postgame fireworks, courtesy of Nashville's NEWS 2, Saturday evening is another can't miss night at the ballpark with the Nashville Sounds! Gates open at 5:35 p.m.
Also on Saturday, the Nashville Sounds will be wearing pink jerseys in support of cancer awareness. Fans have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction during the game in order to take home a player's jersey right off his back following the contest. The auction begins when gates open at 5:35 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Sunday afternoon's 2:05 p.m. matinee against Oklahoma City will be a Purity Sundae Sunday with $1 ice cream sundaes available at Greer Stadium. It is also Autograph Day, where a pre-game autograph session will take place on field with members of the Sounds team and coaching staff beginning at 1:25 p.m. It will also be another of Ozzie's Kids Club games, the ultimate fan club for kids 12 and under. As part of a 100 minor league ballpark tour through 40 states in 2011, Whittier College Professor Joe Price will sing the national anthem. Gates open at 1:05 p.m.
Memorial Day's 7:05 p.m. contest is the third game of the four-game series with the RedHawks. Hot dogs are priced at only $1 at concession stands for Dollar Dog Night, while fans can register to win prizes and experiences involving Sounds manager Don Money for Money Monday. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
The division-rival Iowa Cubs visit Music City for the first time in 2011 for Tuesday night's 7:05 p.m. contest. It will be KRAFT Singles Tuesday Night Tickets, when fans will be able to bring in a KRAFT Singles package wrapper/proof of purchase to the box office for a Buy One Get One Free ticket offer. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
As part of the family-friendly Kids Eat Free promotion, all kids 12 & under will receive a voucher for one free hot dog, one free small bag of chips, and free one soft drink with paid admission for Wednesday evening's 7:05 p.m. contest. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Sounds players will be wearing retro 1980s-style uniforms for Taco Bell Throwback Thursday while fans enjoy concession stands filled with discounted pricing, such as $2 beer, $2 soft drinks, $2 hot dogs, $2 popcorn, and $2 nachos. Beer sales will conclude at the end of the 6th inning, while Slugger's Sports Bar will sell until the end of game. Fans with Taco Bell receipts and college students with valid college IDs will receive $5 general admission tickets to the game. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Friday's homestand finale at 7:05 p.m. will mark the second Purity Faith Night(r) concert of the homestand. Following the homestand, Nashville will begin an eight-game road trip against the New Orleans Zephyrs (Marlins affiliate) and Albuquerque Isotopes (Dodgers affiliate) before returning to home on Tuesday, June 13 to host a four-game homestand against the Round Rock Express (Rangers affiliate).
