San Antonio Rampage News Release

RAMPAGE UPDATE: The Rampage went 1-2-0-0 this week in the team's longest away-game stretch of the season. Thursday's match-up against Cleveland stayed tight into the beginning of the third on account of two repeat goals by Kent Huskins. Leveling the score, 1-1, on a power-play goal at the close of the first, Huskins then tallied the tie-breaker with 1:59 left in the second. Brent Krahn finished with 29 saves for the Rampage, suffering the 4-2 loss. Captain Lee Goren opened up scoring against the Wolf Pack on Saturday night with a shorthanded goal 9:36 into the second marking the lone goal for San Antonio, falling short, 3-1. On Sunday, the Rampage settled the draw against Worcester, topping the IceCats, 2-1. Josh Olson scored a pair of goals for San Antonio, with the first marker 27 seconds remaining in the opening period and the second on the powerplay 6:24 into the second. Travis Scott made 35 saves to claim the win, preserving a perfect record (2-0) against the IceCats. The Rampage play Syracuse tonight to commence a five-game in seven-night stretch this week.

FLORIDA PANTHERS UPDATE: The Cats took 2-1-0-0 on this week's play. Tuesday's win against Montreal presented the Florida home crowd with two team records set by Viktor Kozlov and 40 saves by goalie Roberto Luongo. Both goals for the Panthers were scored by Kozlov, setting the club record for fastest two goals by the team and fastest two goals by one player. The 2-1 victory over the Canadiens was John Torchetti's first win and was the fifth consecutive victory by a Panthers coach in his debut. Florida stayed hot against Pittsburgh on Thursday marking their eighth consecutive victory over the Penguins and improving to 3-0-1 in their last four home games. Darcy Hordichuk launched Panther scoring early in the second period to match two consecutive goals by Niklas Hagman and a score by Olli Jokinen before the start of the third. Pittsburgh was left 5-1 in the defeat. Facing in-state rival Tampa Bay on Saturday, Panthers defensemen Mathieu Biron and Mike Van Ryn each scored in the 3-2 loss. Luongo turned away 33 shots over the Lightning to suffer the loss. The Cats will stay on the road to complete the longest road trip of the season, playing four games over the next six days against Carolina and Buffalo today and Wednesday, ending the week against Pittsburgh and Washington on Friday and Saturday.
