Scheffelmaier back in 'Cats' kitchen

WORCESTER, MA- It was announced today by St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President/General Manager and IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations, Larry Pleau, that defenseman Brett Scheffelmaier has been reassigned by the Blues from Peoria of the ECHL to Worcester.

The 6-5, 222 pound defenseman recently completed his second tour with the Blues/‘Cats ECHL affiliate and skated in four games during the assignment collecting 16 penalty minutes. Scheffelmaier has played a total of 10 games for the Rivermen this season, scoring his first goal as a pro, along with two assists and 21 penalty minutes: 10(1/2/3/)21. Peoria is 7-3 with him in the lineup.

Due predominately to injury, Scheffelmaier has only skated in 10 games for the IceCats during the 2003-2004 campaign. He's notched an assist and 23 PIM's in those games, making the second-year professional's regular season IceCats totals: 66 games, three assists and 166 penalty minutes 66(0/3/3)166.

The IceCats, currently in second place in the Atlantic Division, head to Bridgeport for a 4:05 PM faceoff with the Sound Tigers on Tuesday. Worcester's next home game is Friday, February 27th at 7:05 PM against the Lowell Lock Monsters. Ticket inquiries should be directed to 800-830-CATS.
