San Antonio Rampage News Release

ROCKFORD, IL - The San Antonio Rampage (29-33-8-0) extended their win streak to five games with a 5-2 win over the Rockford IceHogs (36-20-8-4) in front of 5,180 at the BMO Harris Bank Center on Friday night. Rockford held a 2-1 lead in the second period, but the Rampage scored four unanswered goals to earn the win. Trevor Cheek tallied a goal and an assist to earn the First Star of the Game, and Alex Belzile and Mikko Rantanen added two assists each to earn the Second and Third Stars of the Game, respectively.

Rockford drew first blood, getting a goal from Pierre-Cedric Labrie late in the first period to take a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

The Rampage evened the score at 7:41 of the second stanza with a goal off the stick of Maxim Noreau. Chris DeSousa gave the IceHogs the lead again less than two minutes later with a shorthanded goal, the eighth shorthanded goal allowed by the Silver and Black this season.

From that point on, it was all Rampage. Garry Nunn potted his third goal of the season with 21 seconds remaining in the second to knot the game at two heading into the second intermission. The tally also marked the 100th professional goal for Nunn.

San Antonio carried that momentum into the final frame, where they outshot the IceHogs 17-7. Garrett Thompson notched his sixth of the year just over two minutes into the period to give the Rampage their first lead of the night, 3-2. Cheek collected a cross-ice pass from Alex Belzile on the break, lifting the puck over Mac Carruth to extend San Antonio's lead to two goals. Borna Rendulic notched the game's final goal, deflecting Rantanen's blast to make it 5-2, which would stand as the final score.

The Rampage were 1-for-3 on the power play while holding Rockford scoreless on four opportunities with the man advantage. Reto Berra finished with 26 saves on 28 shots.

Notes In addition to recording his 100th pro goal, Garry Nunn now has nine points (3G, 6A) in 10 games with San Antonio... Friday's game marked the 150th AHL game for Duncan Siemens.

Lineup Notes Dennis Everberg, Ben Street and Garry Nunn made up the Rampage's top line, while Mikko Rantanen centered Sam Henley and Borna Rendulic on the second line. Reto Berra made his ninth start in net.

Up Next The Rampage travel to Milwaukee to take on the Admirals for the final time this season Saturday at 7 p.m. Season tickets for the 2016-17 campaign are on sale now. For more information, call a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or visit sarampage.com.
