Eminger Lifts Lake Erie to 4-3 Win

ROSEMONT, IL - In the seventh of eight meetings between the two teams this season, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters defeated the Chicago Wolves on Friday at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL by a final score of 4-3. With the win, the Monsters' fourth-consecutive victory to match the team's longest winning streak of the year, Lake Erie improved to 38-21-5-5 overall this season and with a .623 points percentage, overtook the Rockford IceHogs for third place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

Chicago's Jared Nightingale made it 1-0 Wolves at 8:19 of the opening period on Friday, but Lake Erie tied the game at 10:47 of the first when Ryan Craig and T.J. Tynan set up Steve Eminger for a power-play score. The Monsters claimed their first lead just over five minutes later when Josh Anderson finished off an even-strength two-on-one rush at 16:15 with Austin Farley and Dillon Heatherington collecting assists on a play that made it 2-1 Lake Erie entering the middle stanza.

Chicago's Bryce Gervais leveled the score at two apiece on the power-play at 11:40 of the second period before the Monsters and Wolves traded even-strength scores in the final stanza, from Lake Erie John Ramage, assisted by Tynan and Kerby Rychel at 9:12, and Chicago's Rattie at 9:29. As time would down in the final frame, the Monsters took advantage of a five-on-three power-play at 18:10 as Eminger powered home the game-winning tally thanks to a crisp set-up from Daniel Zaar and Alex Broadhurst.

Lake Erie's Anton Forsberg improved to 21-10-4 in net this season by virtue of a 25-save performance, while Jordan Binnington took the loss for the Wolves despite stopping 25 of the 29 pucks he faced.
