IceHogs Meet Rampage Tonight

April 1, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs (36-19-8-4) face off against the San Antonio Rampage (28-33-8-0) tonight at 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

Tonight's contest marks the last time the IceHogs face a Pacific Division opponent in the regular season. Fans 21-and-older can enter the building beginning at 5:15 p.m. for a Blues Flame Friday, while the general public may enter at 6 p.m.

In honor of April Fools Day, the IceHogs are offering a ticket special for tonight's game that is almost too good to be true. Fans can purchase a $5 ticket (upper endzone) for tonight's game using the promo code "NOJOKE". For tickets, purchase online at IceHogs.com, call (815) 968-5222, in person at the BMO?Harris Bank Center Box Office in downtown Rockford, or any Ticketmaster outlet, including Walmart.

The game will be broadcast on WIFR's "Justice Network" on 23.3, as well as Comcast Cable channel 434, Charter Cable channel 194 or Mediacom Channel 102 in the Rockford market, and online through AHLLive.com. Fans can also listen for free online at WXRX.com or by using the IceHogs mobile app. Follow along on Twitter (@goIceHogs) for live updates throughout the game.

Those 21-and-older can get their weekend started early at the BMO at the Blues Flame Lounge Pre-Game Party. Paul Hiser will be performing while guests enjoy free appetizers and drink specials. Fans with a game ticket must enter through the upper-concourse level entrance on Elm St. near the box office. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. and only the first 150 will be permitted.

The last time the two Western Conference teams faced one another was back on Dec. 6 when the IceHogs took home a 5-2 victory in San Antonio. In the win, three Rockford skaters had two-point nights, one of whom was P.C. Labrie (1g-1a). Labrie is eligible to return from his one-game suspension tonight.

The IceHogs are coming off a big 1-0 win on Wednesday in Rosemont against the Chicago Wolves. Forward Ryan Haggerty scored the lone goal in the victory, while goaltender Mac Carruth picked up the shutout for Rockford's eighth of its kind this season.

Similarly, the Rampage come in to Rockford after defeating the Texas Stars 3-2 in OT on Sunday, March 27, and have given up only three total goals during their current four-game winning streak.

In order to secure a win, the IceHogs will look to settle down Garry Nunn. Since being signed to a PTO on March 8, the forward has recorded six points (2g-4a) in eight games with the Rampage, and is currently the only player on a point streak despite the team's most recent four consecutive victories.

However, the IceHogs have power of their own coming in to the matchup. As of late, Rockford's penalty kill has been exceptional, only allowing one goal over the last 33 power-play opportunities offered to their opponents. The recent penalty-kill prowess has moved the IceHogs to a rate of 82.9%, including an 85.3% rate on home ice which ranks eighth in the American Hockey League.

With a win tonight, the IceHogs would complete a sweep of the Rampage. If the sweep occurs, it will ensure Rockford's best record against an opponent this season. The team's second-best record versus an opponent has come against the Iowa Wild (.850), who they play tomorrow night.

Next Home Game: Saturday, April 2 vs. Iowa Wild at 7 p.m. The first 2,500 fans who enter the building will receive an IceHogs garden gnome, courtesy of Riverside Dental. The contest marks the last time the IceHogs face the Wild on BMO ice this season.
