April 1, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves announced Friday that defenseman Travis Walsh has signed an amateur tryout contract (ATO) and defenseman Richard Nedomlel has been reassigned to the team from Quad City (ECHL) by St. Louis (NHL).
Walsh, 22, joins the Wolves after playing four years at Michigan State University, where he amassed 3 goals and 45 assists in 141 games. The Haslett, Michigan, native ranks second among NCAA Division I players this season in blocked shots (108) and blocks per game (2.92). He blocked a school-record 335 shots during the course of his career.
The 5-foot-11, 188-pound defenseman, who's the son of the late Shawn Walsh -- who led the University of Maine to two NCAA championships -- and grandson of United States Hockey Hall of Famer Ron Mason, turned professional on March 26 when he signed with the Missouri Mavericks (ECHL). Walsh appeared in 3 games and posted a +2 plus/minus rating with Missouri.
Nedomlel, 22, has appeared in 7 games for Quad City and posted 6 penalty minutes and a -3 plus/minus rating since joining the Mallards on March 16. The 6-foot-5, 228-pound Prague, Czech Republic, native has contributed 2 assists in 11 games for the Wolves this season.
The Wolves host the Lake Erie Monsters at 7 p.m. today and Saturday at Allstate Arena. Not only does Saturday's game serve as Marvel Superhero Night, the Wolves are handing out Trading Card Sets, presented by Vienna Beef, to the first 5,000 fans.
