Rampage Ink Defenseman George Hughes to ATO

SAN ANTONIO (March 23, 2013) - San Antonio Rampage General Manager Mike Santos announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed defenseman George Hughes to an amateur tryout contact.

Hughes, 24, wrapped up his senior season at St. Lawrence University of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) where he led the nation in scoring by a defenseman in the regular season with five goals and 32 assists in 38 games. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound defenseman was named to the ECAC First Team in his senior year and also to the league's All-Star Team. In four years at St. Lawrence, Hughes recorded 105 points (18 goals, 87 assists) in 150 games for the Saints. The Westwood, Mass., native is second all-time at St. Lawrence University with 87 career assists from the blueline.

The Rampage kick-off a three-game homestand tonight (Saturday) against the Oklahoma City Barons at 7 p.m. The game will also air live on FOX Sports Southwest.
