IceCaps Rebound against Pirates

The St. John's IceCaps bounced back to split the two-game series against the Pirates with an impressive 4-1 victory in Portland at the Cumberland County Civic Center Saturday night.
Josh Lunden had a career-high three points, scoring a power play goal and adding a pair of assists, while Eric O'Dell notched a goal and an assist. Kael Mouillierat and Jason Gregoire each chipped in with a pair of helpers and Mark Dekanich stopped 20-of-21 shots for the IceCaps' third win in their last four games.
After Nick Johnson got the Pirates on the board early, the IceCaps answered back at the 15:11 mark to tie the score at one. St. John's put sustained pressure on Portland and their efforts paid off when O'Dell took a pass from Gregoire and circled towards the net near the left circle, firing a wrist shot through a screen and beating Pirates goaltender Mark Visentin.
St. John's took the lead midway through the second period on a power play tally by Gagnon, who extended his point streak to nine games with the goal. Mouillierat's drive from the slot bounced to Gagnon to the right of Visentin, and the red-hot IceCaps' centre deposited home his eighth of the year to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
In the third, the IceCaps got an insurance marker while shorthanded on a goal by Max Macenauer. Gregoire raced in on a two-on-one and fed Macenauer, who sniped a shot past Visentin to make it 3-1 St. John's at the 9:27 mark.
Josh Lunden added his third of the season (all of which have come in the last four games) on a power play late in the frame to put the game out of reach.
The IceCaps roll into Manchester for a matinee Sunday afternoon against the Monarchs looking to build off Saturday night's triumph.
