Pirates Cap off Home Slate vs. St. John's

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates will look to sweep their home series against the St. John's IceCaps tonight when they face off at the Cumberland County Civic Center for the final time this season. Puck drop is set for 7 PM. The Pirates currently sit in 5th place in the Eastern Conference with 75 points, while the IceCaps sit in 14th place with 55 points. In last night's series opener, the Pirates fell behind early as Aaron Gagnon extended his point streak to 9 games with a first period goal. However, Pirates captain Alexandre Bolduc scored late in the first period to tie the game, and Jordan Szwarz would net a shorthanded goal on a penalty shot to give the Pirates the lead in the second en route to a 5-2 victory. Mark Visentin, making his first start since February 11th, stopped 31 of 33 shots in the victory, and Andy Miele extended his point streak to 5 games with a third period goal. Jordan Szwarz had two goals on the night and Chris Brown added a power play tally, his 12th power play goal this season and his team leading 24th goal of the year.

The will be the 6th meeting of the year between the Pirates and IceCaps, with Portland holding a 4-0-1-0 record against St. John's. The Pirates have won every home game against the St. John's, outscoring the IceCaps 11-3 at home.
